Ans. Quarantine can be defined as a restriction imposed on the free movement of people to prevent transmission of a communicable disease from potentially infected persons to healthy persons during the incubation period. There are several types of quarantine during a pandemic or outbreak. Home quarantine, institutional quarantine, and community lockdown are some of the effective methods. Along with separating and restricting the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick, the concerned authority may restrict a healthy person or a group of healthy people or an entire community from getting exposure to potentially infected people or animals during any of these types of quarantine. Isolation on the other hand means separating sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick. It is done to contain the disease. Practicing social distancing like keeping 1 meter distance from other individuals, avoiding public transports or crowd or touching anyone or geographical mobilization, and maintaining overall personal hygiene may prove useful during any kind of quarantines.
